Breakfast briefing for Liverpool Paddington Village construction apprentices

A breakfast event was held earlier this week at Paddington Village in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2019.

Paddington Village is a £1bn flagship expansion site that sits at the eastern gateway to the city centre. When complete, it will include up to 1.8m sq. ft. of science, technology, education and health space.

Morgan Sindall Construction is currently working on numerous projects as part of the Paddington Village Central phase of the project. The company is currently onsite delivering two major schemes, with significant upcoming developments including a new 160 bed hotel and a 60-bedroom upscale aparthotel to the value of £35 million.

The event was attended by 30 apprentices who are currently or will soon be working on site for Morgan Sindall Construction or its consultant teams and supply chain, representing a wide cross section of ages, backgrounds and trades. Morgan Sindall Construction’s MD for the North, Barry Roberts, spoke to the attendees about their career ambitions and offered advice on how to achieve their aims and also discussed how important apprenticeships are to the success of Morgan Sindall projects.

Nathan, a level 2 apprentice for A&B Engineering, currently working on the mechanical and electrical design and installation for projects at Paddington Village, said: “I have ambitions to someday become a company director and listening to some of the stories today has confirmed to me that a trade apprenticeship is the best way for me to learn about the industry and work my way to the top.” The event was run in conjunction with A&B Engineering, Cido, Curtis, Will Nixon, FK Group, Flinders Chase, Ryder Architecture and Steve Hunt associates.
