Construction collective raises £26,000 for ‘inspiring’ NHS staff with £100,000 target in their sights

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction, MJS, and Mick George Ltd, three construction companies working across East Anglia, have raised more than £26,000 for four NHS trusts across the region to say ‘thank you’ to NHS staff working during the Covid:19 pandemic.

The three companies launched the fundraising campaign when the crisis hit in March and through generous donations from employees, clients, and the community, they are getting closer to their £100,000 target.

The funds raised will be translated into ‘thank you activities’ for staff working at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust, Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The donations will fund spa retreats and red letter days among other activities for NHS workers to enjoy when the region pulls through the pandemic. NHS workers will then be able to select and attend their thank you activity at a time of their choosing post-pandemic.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals, said: "On behalf of our staff working across our hospital sites, I would like to thank all those individuals and organisations who have donated to the collective formed by MJS, Mick George Ltd and Morgan Sindall Construction.
Support from businesses and individuals from the communities we serve has been one of the key things that has helped our staff keep going during this pandemic. They have really felt the support and love which means such a lot as they are spending time away from their loved ones to care for our patients in sometimes challenging circumstances.
I would like to thank MJS, Mick George Ltd and Morgan Sindall Construction for leading this campaign."
Bob Ensch, from Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “Our NHS workers are absolutely amazing, and we have been so inspired by the way they have risked their lives on the frontline during the Covid:19 crisis that we wanted to give something back to say ‘thank you’ and show our support.
We’re over the moon to have raised this amazing amount thanks to the incredible generosity of our community of friends, family, clients, and colleagues and are hoping people will continue to dig deep, join our collective, and donate to support our brilliant NHS workers, and help us hit our £100,000 target.
We wanted to ensure our donations directly benefited NHS workers, and we look forward to them being able to relax and enjoy a very well-deserved treat, once the pandemic has passed.”
