News |

Morgan Sindall Construction has celebrated its suppliers in the Northern Home Counties during a ceremony to acknowledge best practice across the supply chain.

The annual event held by the business highlights outstanding performance by project partners and suppliers in the region with recognition of innovation, outstanding quality, and health and safety performance.

The ceremony, held at St Michaels Manor Hotel in St Albans, was attended by Morgan Sindall Construction’s senior management team and over 100 representatives from the company’s suppliers throughout the region.

During the event, Jack Haley of Brith Services, a mechanical and electrical engineering company which offers a wide range of services from spec builds, design developments, to full design and installation, was recognised as Apprentice of the Year. While Steve Archer of Vale Interiors, a well-established company with over 30 years’ experience in the supply and fitting of interiors, was named Supervisor of the Year.

The following companies were also awarded for best practice:

  • Graffic, a construction company based in St Albans that specialises in groundworks, was awarded the coveted title of Supply Chain Partner of the Year
  • Eco-Modular, a modular company, was recognised with an Innovation Award for its contribution in pre-construction and delivery
  • Modebest, a leading UK construction company specialising in groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, civil engineering and builders’ work, was recognised for Outstanding Health and Safety Performance
  • JB Carpentry, a Hitchin-based SME that provides bespoke joinery services, was awarded for Outstanding Quality Achievement.
David Rowsell, Morgan Sindall Construction’s Northern Home Counties area director, said: “Our supply chain is incredibly important to us and we’re always keen to recognise the key role that these important partners play in helping our business to deliver outstanding projects for communities across the Northern Home Counties. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate excellence across our supply chain and to see such a strong turnout at the awards.
“We recognise that a collaborative approach is key to driving forward sustainable partnerships and have a number of processes in place to ensure we recognise best practice within our supply chain and develop and nurture long-lasting relationships with outstanding sub-contractors and suppliers who share our commitment to delivering best-in-class projects and enriching the communities in which we work. One tangible way we demonstrate this is by releasing retention at practical completion for preferred suppliers if the project and subcontractor meet certain criteria.”
Spencer Lacey, construction director at Graffic, said: “We are delighted to be named Morgan Sindall Construction’s Northern Home Counties Supply Chain Partner of the Year. We have a very positive relationship with the Morgan Sindall Construction team and have worked closely together to deliver a number of outstanding projects across the region over the years.
“Early engagement on projects and a commitment to timely payment terms are just some of the tangible ways in which companies can build positive, mutually beneficial relationships which add real value to a project.“This commitment to building robust supplier partnerships is something that the Morgan Sindall Construction team really understands and their collaborative working ethos enables strong relationships to develop at all levels of the business, which helps us all to deliver great results for the client.”
